DIVA Tech Day to be held Jan. 22 at Magic City Campus

Girls can weld a flower or program and race a robot during the upcoming DIVA Tech day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 22 at Minot High School-Magic City Campus.
Other non-traditional activities that girls in grades 7-10 can try out include constructing a step stool, wiring an electrical outlet and making connections, conducting a car inspection and changing a tire, creating a rocket, air brushing a car panel, creating their own pasta, planting a garden and flying a plane, according to Arlene Eslinger.
All of these activities are tied to careers in which fewer than 25% of the employees are women. Minot High School offers classes in all of these areas. The Minot Public Schools Careers and Technical Education department has hosted the event in one form or another since 1997 and has encouraged girls to consider signing up for some of the classes and perhaps develop an interest in a career they might not otherwise have considered.
