Derrick Walker found guilty of child sexual exploitation in U.S. District Court

Derrick Stephen Walker, 45, Minot, has been found guilty by a jury in federal court of six counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of receipt of images depicting the sexual exploitation of a child.

He went to trial on Monday in U.S. District Court in Bismarck.

No sentencing date has been scheduled.

Walker had originally been charged in state court but the case was transferred to federal court. Katie Heidinger, 33, of Velva, who had been charged as a co-defendant in the federal case, had been scheduled to testify against him at trial. She previously accepted a plea deal that calls for her to serve 30 years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised probation. She is scheduled to be sentenced on March 16 in U.S. District Court in Bismarck.
