ND film’s first screening plays to full house at Oak Park Theater

Filmgoers filled Oak Park Theater in Minot on Friday night to be the first in the state to see a North Dakota film, “A Heart Like Water.”

The Minot theater was the site of the first screening for the film based on true stories of early settlers in Dakota Territory and presented by Canticle Productions, a film, TV and theater production company founded by Dan Bielinski of Bismarck.

“We sold out the show. It was a wonderful turnout,” said Bielinski, who wrote, produced and is the lead man in the film.

Al Schon, owner of Oak Park Theater, said about 245 people – a full house – attended the screening.

“It was so successful we’ll do it again,” Schon said. He said plans are to present the film again in January at a date to be announced.

Following the film showing Friday night, Bielinski and others affiliated with the film answered questions from the audience.

Other screenings are scheduled for various cities across the state including Watford City High School on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at www.aheartlikewater.com.
