Burke Central teacher Katie Erdahl charged with corruption of a minor

Katie Michelle Erdahl, 33, a history teacher at Burke Central High School in Lignite, has been charged with having sexual contact with one of her male students earlier this year, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court.

Erdahl is charged in district court in Burke County with Class C felony corruption of a minor, a boy between the ages of 15 and 17. According to the affidavit, Erdahl resides in a residence owned by the school district and the activity allegedly took place at her residence.

Erdahl was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charge on Monday before Judge Stacy Louser.

Erdahl is listed as a high school history teacher on the school district’s website. According to the affidavit, the report was made and the alleged victim was interviewed on Dec. 2

Burke Central Supt. Rick Lindblad said Monday that Erdahl was placed on administrative leave pending further investigation when the allegation was made last week. He said he cannot comment further but the district is most concerned about the well-being of its students.
