Troy Brown, Minot, charged with intent to deliver methamphetamine

Troy Randall Brown, 34, Minot, was charged with Class B felony intent to deliver methamphetamine following an attempted traffic stop early Sunday, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court.

According to the affidavit, Brown’s vehicle was seen crossing the fog line on U.S. Highway 2 East at 1:04 a.m. A deputy activated her lights, and Brown failed to stop and fled the traffic stop at speeds approaching 60 mph until the under body of the vehicle caught fire. Brown eventually brought the vehicle to a stop, and Brown got out of the car and fled on foot. He was eventually caught and detained.

He has been charged with Class C felony fleeing. He is also charged with Class C felony possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor driving with a suspended license, Class A misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, and Class A misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. In addition, he was arrested on outstanding warrants in other cases.

According to the affidavit, Brown was carrying a camera case that had seven small plastic baggies containing suspected methamphetamine, another bag with four pills inside, an unlabeled medicine bottle with 10 orange and white pills inside it, a smoking device, a plastic funnel with white residue and two plastic tubes with residue. In the car officers found additional drug paraphernalia.

Brown was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charges on Monday in district court in Minot.
