Magic City Hoagies to receive $50,000 grant
Providing school-aged children in the city of Minot who were in need of a free lunch until the end of the 2019-2020 school year brought Christine Staley, owner of Magic City Hoagies, a $50,000 grant in a nationwide restaurant contest.
Magic City Hoagies was selected as one of 20 winners nationwide to receive a $50,000 grant in the community-driven contest presented by Chase Sapphire and The Infatuation, according to Chase Sapphire information.
The Sapphire Supports Restaurant Contest kicked off in July asking people to share what their favorite local restaurants mean to them and their community, and after an outpouring of nominations as part of the nationwide community-driven contest, (nearly 2,500 total), Magic City Hoagies was identified as a neighborhood favorite and an absolute must-visit for locals and visitors alike, according to Chase Sapphire information.
Below is one of the comments the company received from Minot residents about why Magic City Hoagies was so deserving of the grant:
“It was a Sunday night just after dinner when I first saw the post on Facebook. Christine Staley, owner of Magic City Hoagies here in Minot, ND just posted ‘to not worry parents’ that she was feeding every school-aged child who was in need of free lunch in the entire city, K-5 until the end of the 2019-20 school year. All she asked for was their grade and school, no other questions!”
A total of $1 million in grants are being presented to restaurants nationwide.
