FARGO — AAA-The Auto Club Group has awarded $20,000 in grants to help address traffic safety concerns of law enforcement, schools and traffic safety partners in North Dakota.

The top issues identified in grant applications were impaired driving, school zone safety and speeding. Among funding needs were equipment, signage and the establishment of educational outreach campaigns.

The largest grant of $10,000 went to support the North Dakota Sober Ride campaign, part of the state’s Vision Zero initiative. The remaining funds were divided among Beach Public School, Northwood Public School, Elgin-New Leipzig Public School, Ellendale Public School, Devils Lake Police Department, Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln Police Department, Wahpeton Police Department and Grand Forks Police Department.
