Reynolds celebrates 75 years in business

Submitted Photo Staff of Reynolds Insurance Agency pose for a celebratory photo outside the New Town business in August.

On Aug. 25, Reynolds Insurance Agency in New Town celebrated is 75th anniversary with an open house.

A memory lane spanning the years 1946 – 2021 was set up in the meeting room with pictures, awards, and memorabilia items on display for visitors to view.

Hardin Reynolds established Reynolds Insurance Agency in Sanish in 1946, representing Farmers Union Insurance. He sold insurance out of his home in Sanish and later from his farm near New Town until 1959.

Reynolds Insurance moved to the Farmers Union Oil Station in 1959, then to a location on the north side of Main Street, and then to the present location on the south side of Main Street.

The present Reynolds Insurance Building was constructed in 1966 with an addition built in 1972. Reynolds Insurance has occupied this building since 1967.

In 1977, Kenneth Reynolds joined the agency.

His prior experience consisted of 11 years with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (now known as FSA).

Hardin Reynolds slowly phased out of the agency and finally discontinued his license in 1993 at the age of 79.

In September 1991, Craig Reynolds joined the agency to operate a second location in Stanley. In March 1995, Reynolds Insurance made the decision to leave Farmers Union Insurance and become an Independent Insurance Agency. On Jan. 1, 2003, Craig Reynolds purchased the agency and assumed full leadership and management responsibility. Kenneth Reynolds slowly transitioned himself out of the main operations of the agency and discontinued his license in 2016 at the age of 75.

After a complete renovation of the existing building in 2013, Reynolds Insurance Agency Inc. continues to operate in New Town. Weekly visits are still made to the areas of Parshall and Plaza. Staff consists of seven licensed agents.

The core business of the agency is farm related – farm property, auto, crop, and hail – with the balance being a mix of commercial, personal lines, life, and annuities.
