Donel Green sentenced to 4 ½ years for intent to deliver oxycodone in New Town

Donel A’Layell Green, 28, Detroit, Mich., was sentenced on Monday to 4 ½ years in federal prison, with credit for time served, for intent to distribute oxycodone in the New Town area between March and July 2019.

According to court documents, Green and his co-defendant, Amber Emilia Ruiz, of New Town, traveled between Michigan and North Dakota to obtain and distribute the pills and the drug proceeds. Ruiz is alleged to have allowed drug traffickers to use her residence in New Town to distribute the drugs and to have acquired oxycodone and distributed drugs to people in Bismarck and Mandan.

Judge Daniel Traynor is recommending that Green serve his sentence in a prison near Detroit, Mich., so he can be close to his family, and that Green participate in drug addiction treatment while he is in prison. Green will be on supervised probation for three years after he is released.

The prosecution has agreed to recommend a sentence at the low end of the sentencing guidelines for Ruiz, who is scheduled for a change of plea and sentencing hearing on Dec. 1 in U.S. District Court in Bismarck.
