Elks respond to COVID-19 impacts

Submitted Photo Carolyn Bodell, right, secretary of Minot Elks Lodge #1089, presents a symbolic $2,000 check to Liz Larsen, left, executive director for Project Bee Aug. 3. The Elks received a Spotlight Grant of $2,000 from the Elks National Foundation for a community need that has been impacted by COVID-19. Lodge officers contacted Project Bee and learned the organization has had increased expenses in housing homeless clients in hotels rather than in the group space in its building because of distancing protocols due to COVID-19. Project Bee also has had many more requests for assistance in its other programs. The Elks responded by applying for a grant to donate to Project Bee (formerly YWCA).
