Minot Public Library offers auto repair database
The Minot Public Library wants people to know they have free access to the Chilton Library database with their library card. Community members, local organizations, and businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this auto-repair resource. Save money, build your knowledge and skills, and access vital information about your vehicle anytime, anywhere.
The Chilton Library is a digital database that offers authoritative guidance for repairing and maintaining your vehicle. Access includes information on over 2,600 domestic and imported vehicle models from 1940 to the current year with all major makes included. In addition to fully illustrated, step-by-step repair procedures, this database also offers access to safety bulletins, recall information, diagnostic trouble codes, vehicle-specific maintenance schedules and labor estimations. ASE test-prep resources are available for students.
To access the Chilton Library now, find the Chilton Library in the “Digital Resources” section of MPL’s webpage www.minotlibrary.org and use your library card number to log in. If you are in need of a library card, call the Minot Public Library at 852-1045. No internet access? Library staff would be happy to help you find and print the information you need at the library.
Now that you’ve identified the repairs you need to do, you’re going to need tools to do these and the Minot Public Library can help you with that too. The library has basic auto mechanic tools and much more available in its Tool Library. Tools are available for free loan to cardholders who have maintained their library account for 90 days or more.
Tools can be found through an online catalog on the website, but patrons are invited to stop by the library at 516 2nd Ave. SW and browse the paper copy of the catalog as well as books related to auto repair projects.
A video tutorial demonstrating how to use the Chilton Library is available on the library’s Facebook page, but patrons can also schedule a one-on-one Technology Tutor with the library’s technology coordinator. For more information on any of these resources call the library at 852-1045.
