Police investigate fiery death as murder

The death of a woman in a vehicle fire in southeast Minot on June 3 is being investigated as a murder, according to the Minot Police Department. The Minot Fire Department had responded to the fire around 1 a.m.

Police are working with the North Dakota State Forensic Examiner’s office and North Dakota State Crime Laboratory to identify the human remains. The examiner’s office has determined the remains are of an adult female but is awaiting DNA results for positive identification.

Police report that investigators have strong evidence to suggest the victim’s identity but no information can be released until positive identification is made. Police have been in contact with the family of the presumed victim.
