ND teachers to attend National Ag in the Classroom

Four North Dakota educators have been selected through various scholarships to attend the National Ag in the Classroom Conference, to be held in Des Moines, Iowa from June 28-July 1. The conference helps educators from across the nation learn how to incorporate real-life agricultural applications into science, social studies, language arts, math and nutrition lessons.

The four educators selected and awarded grants to attend the conference are:

Debra Nelson, Bottineau – awarded a grant through the American Farm Bureau Foundation, White-Reinhardt Fund for Education

Linda Hugelen, Standing Rock – awarded a grant through the Native American Agriculture Fund

Jenifer Hosman, Hebron, and Alaetra Alvarez, Ray – selected to attend through grant support from the North Dakota Ag in the Classroom Program and the North Dakota Farm Bureau Foundation.

The Food, Land & People Program has approximately 10 classes that are offered with NDSU Continuing Education Credit. Workshops include the introduction to lessons, resources, engaging activities, field trips, guest speakers and more. These classes will also provide educators with: supplementary curriculum for PreK-12; professional development credit with NDSU; reinforcement of educational strategies.
