Louis Burgess, Douglas, sentenced to time served, 18 months probation for meth possession; terrorizing charge dismissed

Louis Wayne Burgess, 21, Douglas, was sentenced on June 17 to 360 days in jail, all suspended but the 38 days he has already served, and 18 months of supervised probation for a second offense of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class C felonies.

The state dismissed a Class C felony terrorizing charge under the terms of a plea deal. Burgess has been ordered to have no contact with a woman who was alleged to be a victim in that case under the terms of his probation in the drug cases. Burgess had been accused of brandishing a knife and threatening to kill the woman in the Minot Walmart parking lot in June 2020. There had been ongoing conflict between Burgess and the woman.

He was also ordered to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation and to pay $1,100 in court costs.
