Five injured in crash near Maddock

MADDOCK – Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Maddock on Saturday.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Handre Leus, 33, Grace City, and Ryno Conradie, 33, Maddock, were both going east on 38th Street NE, about one mile east of Maddock. Conradie, driving a 2013 Ram Laramie 1500, was traveling in front of Leus, driving a 2012 Ford F-150. Conradie reduced his speed to complete a u-turn at an approach to travel west back toward Maddock. Leus’ vehicle struck Conradie’s vehicle in the westbound lane of the road. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch.

Leus, Conradie and Andre Olivier, 32, Grace City, a passenger in the Conradie vehicle, had minor injuries and declined transportation to a medical facility, according to the Highway Patrol. Jacques Pitout, 39, Grace City, a passenger in the Leus vehicle, was transported by Valley Med Flight to Trinity Hospital in Minot. Visagie, also a passenger in the Leus vehicle, was taken by Maddock Ambulance to CHI St. Alexius in Devils Lake.
