The Minot Public Library is restarting its Homebound Delivery program in June.

“For more than a decade we have delivered books and audiobooks monthly to people who are homebound, have a visual or physical disability or who are living in an assisted living or an extended care facility,” said Library Director Janet Anderson. “However, due to health and safety restrictions we had to discontinue this service in March 2020.”

As more facilities have opened up to visitors, the Minot Public Library is now able to start offering this service again.

Lacey Possen, the Special Services library associate, said the library has a large variety of materials to choose from including books on CD, large print and regular print books in both fiction and nonfiction, and music CDs.”

Anyone residing in Minot who has a visual or physical disability or is living in an assisted living/extended care facility is eligible to have items delivered each month. Following an initial phone interview with people interested in signing up for this program, Possen will select materials every month and library volunteers or staff will deliver the items.

Volunteers or library staff deliver the materials directly to the patron’s residence once a month.

“We are extremely lucky to have such dedicated volunteers who deliver items to our Special Service patrons each month in all kinds of weather and road conditions,”Anderson said.
