Minot crews to begin street sweeping

Street sweeping crews from the City of Minot continue cleaning dirt and other debris that accumulated on city streets during the winter months, and will soon begin sweeping in residential areas.

The city reports that crews spent recent weeks sweeping snow routes and other major roadways, such as Burdick Expressway and Broadway, as well as islands, medians and underpasses.

Beginning next Monday, crews will work to clean the four quadrants of the city, using Broadway and Burdick Expressway as dividing lines. Within the four quadrants, crews will be working in different areas. Residents are encouraged to restrict on-street vehicle parking and, if possible, place their garbage cans on the berm instead of in the street when sweepers are scheduled to be in their quadrant.

A map containing the various zones can be found at http://www.minotnd.org/300/Street. Daily updates will be posted on the site to identify where sweepers will be working.

Street sweeping schedule for 2021:

– May 10-21: Northeast quadrant.

– May 24-June 4: Northwest quadrant.

– June 7-18: Southwest quadrant.

– June 21-July 2: Southeast quadrant.

If crews finish cleaning a quadrant sooner than expected, they will move into the next quadrant ahead of schedule. Other Street Department crews will be working to fix potholes with the department’s new asphalt recycler.
