Local Wreaths Across America holding May fundraiser

The local Wreaths Across America is holding a fundraiser this month at five locations in Minot. The money collected will help sponsor wreaths for this year’s campaign.

Through the month of May, the following locations will have a glass block container for monetary donations: Burger King, Homesteaders Restaurant, Mac Inc. Hardware, Pizza Ranch and Simonson’s.

Wreaths Across America is a program to remember and honor veterans, and the sacrifices they have made for this country. Through the Wreaths Across American organization, wreaths are placed at the gravesites of veterans buried in cemeteries across the country.

National Wreaths Across America Day is observed on a Saturday in mid-December each year. This year the day will be observed on Dec. 18. This year’s theme is “Live Up To Their Legacy.”

In addition to placing the wreaths each December at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot, on National Wreaths Across America Day, the local Wreaths Across America group displays their names on the Wreaths Across America Wall of Honor in Minot during the Memorial Day weekend. Extra wreaths sponsored for the local December event will be laid at the gravesites of fallen heroes from North Dakota at Arlington National Cemetery.

For more information about the local program contact Richard Reuer, Wreaths Across America event coordinator at 441-1170.
