Live First grant winners announced

Minot and area organizations are among winners in First International Bank & Trust’s Seventh Annual Live First Community Giving Campaign.

A $1,000 Media Star award went to Hairball Haven in Minot.

McKenzie County Rural Fire District in Keene and Faith in Action in Harvey each received Rising Star awards of $5,000. The Keene department has 29 members and is 25 miles from the nearest hospital. It responds to calls for medical, grass, oilfield and residential fires and emergencies, along with crash and rescue calls.

The Faith in Action program connects volunteer drivers with those in need of transportation to medical/dental appointments in area medical centers and as far away as Fargo. The program is coordinated through the Mission and Spiritual Services Office at CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington, and is supported entirely by funding from donations.

Additional $500 awards went to Williston Boom Fast Pitch, Killdeer Wrestling and Goodrich Rural Fire Department.

There were 115 applications received, and $52,000 awarded. Two $10,000 grand prize awards went to Ministry on the Margins in Bismarck and Killdeer Ambulance Service.
