Free workshop helps adults prevent falls

Stepping On is a free workshop designed to help adults over age 60 prevent falls.

The workshop is for two hours, once a week, for seven weeks. It will be held on Tuesdays, May 18-June 29 from 9-11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 1800 Hiawatha Street, Minot. To register contact NDSU Extension at 857-6444 to register for the workshop.

Stepping On helps participants identify why they fall and different ways to prevent falls, including strength and balance exercises, home safety check suggestions and a medication review. The workshop is both for people who have fallen and for people who fear falling.

The local program is sponsored by NDSU Extension-Ward County, North Dakota Regional Aging Services, and First District Health Unit.
