The Minot Park District and Greater Minot Zoological Society announce that Jeff Bullock is the new director of Roosevelt Park Zoo. He started work on Monday.

Bullock replaces Becky Dewitz as zoo director. Dewitz left the Minot zoo director’s position last fall to become chief executive officer of the Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum of Natural History in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Bullock has over 35 years of experience working at zoological institutions with 20 of those years serving in a leadership role.

“We are excited to welcome Jeff to the Magic City. We believe with Jeff’s vision and experience that he will make an immediate impact to the Roosevelt Park Zoo,” said Ron Merritt, executive director of the Minot Park District.

“I am excited to lead the team at the Roosevelt Park Zoo. As a leader I recognize that the staff is the backbone of any organization,” said Bullock. “It is obvious the zoo is an integral part of the Minot community. I am looking forward to sharing my passion and experience to continue to further develop a thriving facility.”

Bullock, originally from Jacksonville, Fla., is a University of Florida graduate and has been a Professional Fellow with the Association of Zoos & Aquariums since 1990. He is also a member of the Zoo Conservation Outreach group and served on the board of directors for 12 years. His career has included work in western Kansas. Jeff has been an active member of the Rotary Club since 2012.

Prior to coming to the Minot zoo, Bullock was with the Greenville Zoo in Greenville, S.C.
