Maple Sugaring event at Fort Stevenson State Park

GARRISON – Fort Stevenson State Park will host its annual Maple Sugaring event on Saturday, April 10. Park staff will demonstrate how to tap trees, collect sap, and use it to make maple syrup. They will also tell of the history of maple syrup and explain the equipment used in the process. The talks will be at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m.

Afternoon activities will include a horse-drawn wagon ride. There will be live music by The Prairie Wranglers at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Local youth groups will be selling maple cotton candy and maple popcorn. A Maple Cooking contest is also scheduled. A pure maple syrup, pancake, and sausage breakfast will be held in Garrison, served by the Sakakawea Area Optimist Club, starting at 9 a.m.
