Brennon Lovell, Minot, sentenced to 7 days, 2 years probation, for burglary
Brennon Gene Lovell, 24, Minot, was sentenced on Friday to 360 days in the Ward County Jail, all suspended but seven days, and two years of supervised probation, for Class B felony burglary while inflicting an injury, on Aug. 28, 2020. He will receive credit for four days already served in the Ward County Jail.
A Class C felony aggravated assault charge and possession of marijuana, an infraction, were both dismissed under the terms of a plea deal. The felony will be deemed a Class A misdemeanor if Lovell complies with all terms and conditions.
Judge Richard Hagar also ordered Lovell to have no contact with the victim and to pay $4,527.81 in restitution and $775 in court costs.
According to court documents, Lovell and his co-defendant, Julian Brunelle Ramirez, went over to another man’s house to confront him over a disagreement that they were having and Lovell beat up the other man. The victim told police he had been pushed to the garage floor. He sought treatment at Trinity Hospital and was told he had sustained cuts on his head and chest and had suffered a brain bleed from the beating.
Ramirez was sentenced in March to 360 days in jail, all suspended but the five days he has already served in the Ward County Jail, and two years of supervised probation for the lesser offense of Class A misdemeanor criminal trespass. Ramirez had told authorities he never touched the victim.
