A small fire in an unoccupied room on the second floor of the Comfort Inn and Suites in south Minot at 7:07 a.m. caused significant water damage, according to information provided by the City of Minot.

No one was injured.

The fire was largely extinguished and contained by the hotel’s sprinkler system until firefighters arrived and put out the small fire. There was water damage on the second floor and on the floor below.

Guests on the second floor of the hotel were moved to rooms on a different floor of the building.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Comfort Inn and Suites is located at 3420 South Broadway.
