Former Minot AFB bomb wing commander appointed major general

A former commander of the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base has been selected for his second star.

Brig. Gen. Jason Armagost has been appointed to the grade of major general, according to Department of Defense information. He is currently serving as the director of operations and communications at Headquarters Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.

The rank of major general is a two-star general.

Armagost was 5th Bomb Wing commander from July 2014-June 2016. Prior to his present position at Air Force Global Strike Command, he was deputy director of Current Operations at U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, Neb.; and commander of the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
