Tyler Wootan, Burlington, charged with terrorizing, simple assault
Tyler Gene Wootan, 23, Burlington, is accused of brandishing a handgun at a woman, making a threat to kill a man and then dropping the gun and physically assaulting the man during an altercation at a Minot residence on Nov. 26, 2020.
Wootan is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony terrorizing and Class B misdemeanor simple assault.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Wootan was drunk at the time. He went to his pickup, came back with a loaded firearm, confronted the woman in the house and said he wanted her to leave with him and said he wanted to kill the other man. The woman was holding a child at the time and started hyperventilating when she saw the gun. The male victim later confronted Wootan, who dropped the gun and grabbed the other man by the throat. A second woman then grabbed Wootan’s gun and hid it.
Wootan left the residence but came back a short time later and demanded his gun and cell phone. The male victim confronted Wootan with a firearm and ordered Wootan to leave the residence. Wootan then left and did not return.
Wootan was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charges on Tuesday. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for April 1 before Judge Richard Hagar.
