Teen injured in in Berthold crash
A Carpio youth, Koda Adrian William Vrieze, 16, was transported by NorthStar Criticair air ambulance to Trinity Hospital in Minot following a two-vehicle accident three miles west of Berthold. The crash occurred at 11:36 a.m. Monday.
Vrieze’s 2004 Ford Escape struck the passenger side of a 2007 Peterbilt truck driven by John Michael Holmen, 38, Voltaire. Holmen was not injured.
Vrieze was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. His injuries were described as “serious but non-life-threatening,” according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol report. Vrieze was cited for failure to yield at an intersection marked by a stop sign.
