It was a rough couple of games for the Minot Minotauros (8-9-0) in Bismarck as they fell to the Bobcats 6-3 on Friday, and 4-0 on Saturday. The Tauros have now lost five of seven games to the Bobcats this season.
In the first contest of the brief two-game set, Bismarck held a commanding 3-0 leading early in the second period. Then Minot narrowed the gap to 3-2 as Kyle Kukkonen registered an unassisted goal at the 4:39 mark, his fifth of the season. Less than 10 seconds later, Jack Westlund notched his fourth goal of the year off an assist from Kukkonen.
As it turned out, that would be as close as the Minotauros would get for the remainder of the game. In the final period, Kukkonen added another goal for Minot as he finished with a game-high three points.
In the shutout loss to Bismarck on Saturday, Minot finished the contest going 0-for-8 on power player opportunities. The Minotauros are scheduled to be back on the ice for another road meeting against Bismarck on Thursday, Dec. 31. Meanwhile, the Bobcats will come into that matchup sporting a season record of 7-10-0.
