1 min read

Trinity Health has scheduled a "Stop the Bleed" training session Jan. 5 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Health Center Riverside, 1900 8th Avenue SE.

Stop the Bleed is a national initiative that empowers community members to take lifesaving action if quickly needed, regardless of the situation or cause of severe bleeding.

"Bleeding is the #1 cause of preventable death after an injury," said Rhonda Gunderson, RN, BSN, Trinity Health's Trauma Program manager. "The skill of being able to control bleeding until help arrives can save a life."

Class participants learn the basics of stopping uncontrolled bleeding due to a car crash, a work incident, or everyday emergency. The one-hour class is free and open to the public. Participants may purchase a Stop the Bleed kit for $20 if they so choose.

RSVP is required by calling Trinity Trauma Services at 857-5700 by Dec. 30. Individuals are asked to bring their own face covering.
