The Minot Public School Foundation and its community partners put on the 12 Days of Giveaways for Minot Public Schools Teachers this holiday season “to boost our teachers’ spirits this holiday season while also saying thank you for giving our students a fun and safe learning environment during the global pandemic,” said Foundation Executive Director Danielle Rued in an email.

Teachers could win new gifts such as gift cards or money to purchase needed items for their classrooms during each day of the first 12 days of December. Rued said the foundation launched the daily information on its social media accounts and got tremendous turnout from community partners First Western Bank & Trust, Nathan Stremick of Signal Realty, Brokers 12 Inc., North Hill Bowl, API Bakken Chapter, Qdoba, and Moore Engineering Inc.

Using the donations, the Minot Public School Foundation purchased gift cards from local small businesses that support education. Other gifts to teachers were dollars for teachers to use in their classrooms to bring new and fun learning opportunities in their class, said Rued in the email.

One teacher told Rued that it was wonderful knowing that the people in the community have noticed the work that teachers are doing. The teacher had been wanting to add additional items to her classroom but hadn’t been able to. The gift from the foundation allowed for the purchase of extras.

Stremick said Tuesday that his mom was a teacher and he wanted to give to the schools and to teachers who are educating kids during the pandemic.

Rued said more donations would be appreciated.

“This doesn’t have to be the end of giving back to our teachers,” said Rued in the email. “They still need our support now more than ever with donations. Donations can be given to the Minot Public School Foundation to support teachers in the classroom. A donation of any size will help teachers support the students with new and enriching activities, supporting critical needs with winter coats, hygiene, and pantry food for students. Together we can make a difference.”
