Kyle Desjarlais receives deferred sentence for 2 years on child neglect charge
Kyle James Desjarlais, 28, Minot, received a deferred imposition of sentence for two years of supervised probation on Nov. 25 on a Class C felony child neglect charge.
According to court documents, Desjarlais did not provide adequate supervision to a 2-year-old child who was found wandering around a Minot apartment complex on July 2.
North Central District Court Judge Doug Mattson ordered Desjarlais to cooperate with Ward County Social Services regarding the child, to complete a parenting class, and to submit a copy of a completed chemical dependency evaluation to the court. He will receive credit for five days already served in the Ward County Jail. He must also pay $1,100 in court costs. If he successfully completes all requirements, the C felony charge will be dismissed at the end of the two years.
