Minot Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary is inviting students to participate in scholarship contests.

The Voice of Democracy contest theme this year is “Is this the country the founders envisioned?” Students in grades 9-12 are asked to record an original three to five minute essay on an audio CD or flash drive and then submit the recording, typed essay, and a completed essay form by Oct. 31 to their local VFW Post.

The Patriot’s Pen Contest is for students in grades 6-8. All essays should be the student’s original work, typed in English, of 300 to 400 words. Essays and an entry form must be submitted to their local VFW Post by Oct. 31.

The Young American Patriotic Art Contest is for students in grades 9-12. Students are asked to submit two and three-dimensional artwork to the VFW Auxiliary by March 31, 2021.

Scholarship money will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners locally, at the district level, at the state level, and national level.
