Two killed in McKenzie County

Two persons were killed and another injured in a three-vehicle collision approximately four miles west of Arnegard Tuesday morning. According to a North Dakota Highway Patrol report the accident occurred about 7:25 a.m. on Highway 85 in snowy weather that produced icy and wet conditions.

Killed were two men, one from Watford City and one from Las Vegas, Nevada, who were both in a 2006 Toyota Tacoma pickup. According to the Highway Patrol, neither man was wearing a seatbelt.

Injured was a man from Watford City who was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram. The Patrol says he was wearing a seatbelt. Three Arnegard residents in the third vehicle, a 2019 Ford F-550, were not injured. None of the names of those involved in the accident were released as of late Tuesday.

The Patrol says the Dodge Ram was believed to be traveling north on Highway 85 when it passed the Ford F-550 which was pulling a gooseneck trailer. The Toyota Tacoma was traveling south and the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to enter the northbound lane where it was struck by the Dodge. The Ford then struck the Dodge.

The driver of the Dodge was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
