Ryder youth selected for College SAVE award

The Ward County Public Library has announced Raegan Albert of Ryder was randomly selected as the recipient of $529 put into a College SAVE account for her participation in the summer reading program.

The North Dakota State Library partnered with Bank of North Dakota to bring the College SAVE Summer Reading Champions Campaign to participants of the 2020 Collaborative Summer Library Program. Students completing their library’s goal for summer could redeem a certificate for a contribution of $25 to a new College SAVE account or $10 to an existing College SAVE account. Children have until Dec. 31, 2020, to redeem their certificate. In addition, there were 10 recipients selected from random drawings who were awarded $529 College SAVE contributions.

“The North Dakota State Library applauds the young readers across the state for their reading commitment during the summer break,”said State Librarian Mary Soucie. “The local libraries are a resource for educating young people. Having this incentive provides extra motivation.”

Nearly 2,000 youth from over 40 libraries participated in this year’s summer reading campaign.

“Bank of North Dakota congratulates all children who participated in their local library’s summer reading programs,” said Eric Hardmeyer, Bank of North Dakota president. “It is well-established that reading is an important component of academic success which leads to a well-prepared workforce.”

The College SAVE Plan is a 529 plan established by the State of North Dakota. Bank of North Dakota acts as trustee of the College SAVE Trust and is responsible for administering the Plan. To learn more about College SAVE, visit collegesave4u.com.
