Majettes take 10th at state; Jessen earns eighth

MHS boys finish 15th

While Bismarck Century won its second consecutive cross country boys state championship on Saturday in Jamestown, Williston secured the top spot in the girls division. For Minot, their girls squad placed 10th overall, and the Magicians’ boys team took 15th.

MHS sophomore Trinity Jessen paced the Majettes with an eighth-place time of 19:05. She ends the 2020 fall season having recorded Minot’s fastest individual times in each of her club’s seven meets this season. Jessen also concludes the year having finished no lower than eighth individually at any meet.

MaLiah Burke was the next fast Majette runner, coming in at 47th overall with a time of 21:03. Scout Ulrickson was not far behind as she placed 48th while clocking in at 21:04. Rounding out Minot’s the top five, Maliah Burke finished 58th overall at 21:17, and Cynthia Schroeder found herself in 88th place, clocking in at 21:59.

For the Minot boys team, it was Grant Schaeffer’s 52nd place time of 17:37.9 which represented the fastest finish. He was followed by Oscar Hultz who came in 85th place (18:35) and Jacob Hight who took 89th overall (18:51.7). Minot’s Ben Lepp also cracked the top 100 by placing 98th individually with a time of 19:12.
