Justin Longie, Belcourt, charged with driving high on marijuana with minor in the vehicle

Justin Michael Longie, 35, Belcourt, is accused of driving while high on marijuana with a minor in the vehicle on Oct. 4.

Longie is charged in district court in Minot with Class A misdemeanor DUI with a minor, and Class B misdemeanor driving with a revoked driver’s license and possession of marijuana, an infraction.

His co-defendant, Christopher James Longie, 25, Belcourt, is charged with Class C felony possession of drug paraphernalia and Class A misdemeanor providing false information to law enforcement.

Both men were scheduled to make an initial appearance in court on Monday before Judge Doug Mattson.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Justin Longie was stopped by a Highway Patrol trooper for driving 88 mph in a 70 mph zone. Justin Longie admitted to smoking marijuana before he had left Minot and said he felt impaired. Justin Longie told the trooper there were two bags of marijuana in the car and said his nephew, Christopher Longie, may have hidden one of the bags in the glove box. Both of the bags of marijuana had previously been in the driver’s side door but the trooper found one in the door and one in the glove box. The trooper spoke with Christopher Longie, who gave him a fake name.
