Jacob Bahr, Minot, sentenced to 7 days time served, unsupervised probation on assault charge

Jacob Evan Bahr, 36, Minot, who had originally been charged with a Class C felony, entered an Alford plea on Oct. 19 to a reduced charge of Class B misdemeanor simple assault.

He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, all suspended but the seven days he already served, and 360 days of unsupervised probation. He was also ordered to complete a course for domestic violence offenders, to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation, and to have no contact with the victim. He was also ordered to pay $425 in court costs.

Bahr had been accused of assaulting a woman during an argument on Oct. 15, 2019. The Alford plea means he maintains his innocence but recognizes he could have been found guilty had the case gone to trial.
