Kim Fundingsland/MDN A boat was destroyed and a garage damaged by fire at 1625 13th Street SW Monday. The Minot Fire Department received the call at 7:50 a.m. for a garage and boat on fire. The boat, which had been parked in the garage, was pulled onto the driveway in front of the garage by the time firefighters arrived. Firefighters found a small fire in the attached garage that they quickly extinguished. The boat fire was also put out but the boat was destroyed. The garage suffered minor fire and smoke damage. According to a Minot Fire Department investigator, the cause of the fire was a faulty light bulb that dropped a hot filament onto the boat tarp. No residents or firefighters were injured.
