Dustin Johnson, Minot, charged with armed robbery

Dustin Finley Johnson, 24, Minot, is charged with robbing a man at gunpoint, a Class B felony, in a parking lot at 17 1st Ave. SW on Saturday afternoon. Johnson is also charged with C felony possession of methamphetamine and C felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the alleged victim had arranged to meet Johnson in the parking lot and to sell Johnson 51 ounces of hemp for $2,000. When Johnson arrived, Johnson pulled out a 9mm handgun and tried to pull the bag of hemp out of the hands of the alleged victim. The other man held on to the bag and Johnson dragged him about 15 feet. Johnson allegedly told the other man “Let go” and “I’ll blow you away.”

The alleged victim and a second man who owned the hemp decided to track down Johnson and try to get the hemp back. They found him at an apartment at 112 South Main Street. When they knocked on the door, Johnson answered. Johnson was holding a bag, grabbed his gun and pointed it at the men. While Johnson was pointing the gun at them, he allegedly yelled at the two men to back up. Police were called and located Johnson. A black backpack in Johnson’s possession contained suspected methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Johnson was scheduled to make an initial appearance in district court in Minot on Tuesday before Judge Stacy Louser.
