Sabre Dogs game to benefit cancer patients

It will be “Fuel the Fight Night” at the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs game Saturday as the team takes on the Badlands Big Sticks.

Part of the game’s proceeds will support the 3rd Annual Fuel the Fight fundraiser, an initiative of Trinity Health Foundation to help offset transportation costs for patients at the Trinity CancerCare Center.

Al Evon, Director of Trinity Health Foundation, says there will be a silent auction for specialty player jerseys during the game, a 50/50 drawing, and sales of raffle tickets supporting the cause.

“We’re excited to have this opportunity to partner with the Sabre Dogs,” Evon said. “Considering our large rural service area, it is not uncommon for patients to travel more than 100 miles roundtrip for their cancer treatments. Thanks to people supporting our initiatives we were able to provide more than $22,000 in fuel vouchers for patients last year.”

The 3rd Annual Fuel the Fight fundraiser is set for Sept. 11 at Dakota Square ARCO. The day-long event features fun activities, discounts, and prizes, including “Free Gas for a Year” donated by First International Bank & Trust.
