Ward County appoints new recorder

Kristin Kowalczyk, former chief deputy in the Ward County Recorder’s Office, has been selected by the Ward County Commission to replace Betty Braun, who retired as recorder June 30 after 30 years.

Kowalczyk has been employed with the office for the past 16 years. On Tuesday, the commission approved office reorganization recommended by Kowalczyk, which covers staff needs at a reduced cost by promoting two employees while leaving one less position overall.

In other business Tuesday, the commission approved an anhydrous ammonia loading/offloading tank for Dakota Midland near Surrey. It also approved a variance for installation of two fuel pumps with a canopy at a Karma convenience store north of Minot at Ruthville, off Ward County Road 8.

Starting at $2.99/week.
