Colton Johnson, Minot, given suspended sentence, two years probation, for defrauding employer
Colton Anton Johnson, 25, Minot, was sentenced on Wednesday to 360 days in jail, all suspended, and two years of supervised probation for defrauding his employer in December 2018.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Johnson had schemed to have his paycheck deposited in his bank account and then also cash the paycheck at First Western Bank & Trust, meaning he was essentially paid twice. The amount stolen was $1,346.70.
Court records show that Judge Stacy Louser ordered Johnson to pay $1,100 in court costs and restitution yet to be determined.
If Johnson successfully completes probation, the C felony theft of property charge will be reduced to an A misdemeanor.
