Nathan Horn, Minot, charged with driving erratically and almost crashing car while arguing with ex-girlfriend, with children in back seat

Nathan Andrew Horn, 28, Minot, is accused of driving erratically and almost crashing the car on Tuesday while he was carrying on an argument with his ex-girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend and her children, ages 4 and 1, were in the car at the time.

Horn is charged in district court in Minot with two counts of Class C felony child neglect, Class A misdemeanor reckless endangerment, and Class B misdemeanor domestic violence causing bodily injury.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Horn and his ex-girlfriend had been arguing about when a U-Haul should be returned. The ex-girlfriend had rented the U-Haul and did not want to keep it another day. Horn was moving out of their residence and was using the U-Haul to move his belongings and wanted to keep it an additional day. The woman returned the U-Haul and Horn got into her vehicle in the driver’s seat and she was in the passenger seat. The children were in the back. The woman told police that Horn drove through stop signs without stopping at a high rate of speed, almost crashed the vehicle when he ran off the roadway and he almost hit the railroad tracks near Amtrak. Horn stopped the vehicle near the Daily Buzz in southwest Minot and the woman grabbed the keys out of the ignition. Horn then got out of the vehicle and walked away. The woman drove to the police station to file a complaint. Horn also allegedly grabbed and pulled out the woman’s hair and grabbed her by the neck at one point during the argument. The woman showed police a clump of hair in the vehicle near the center console. She also had redness around her throat and scratch marks near the bottom of her throat.

Police located Horn and placed him under arrest.
