Dakota Cruisers to honor graduates, pay tribute to Michael Fenner

Dakota Cruisers Car Club of Minot is planning to honor graduates and pay tribute to Michael Fenner during its upcoming Wednesday night cruise on Broadway

George Masters, president of the car club, said the group will honor all graduates “from pre-school to college” along with a tribute to Fenner who would have graduated from high school in Minot on Friday, May 22. Fenner died Wednesday from injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Broadway that day.

The vehicles will line up in the southwest corner of the Kmart parking lot at 6 p.m. and leave to cruise Broadway at 6:30 p.m.

The car club has been honoring various group’s in recent weeks during its cruises on Broadway each Wednesday evening. Those honorings have included first responders, law enforcement and daycare providers, children and active and retired educators.

Masters said this past Wednesday’s cruise brought in 148 vehicles.

Many people line the sides of Broadway in vehicles, standing or sitting in lawn chairs each Wednesday night to watch the classic vehicles and any others who would like to join as they cruise up and down Broadway. It’s not a parade so drivers on the cruise obey traffic lights and signs.

For more information call the club’s information hotline at 852-5277.
