Scott Wermager charged again with domestic violence

Scott Robert Wermager, 25, Minot, is accused of physically assaulting a woman on Tuesday and also of beating her on March 26. He is charged with Class A misdemeanor domestic violence resulting in bodily injury, his third offense.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Wermager grabbed the woman and pinned her to the ground with his knee on her lower abdomen. She had a mark on her stomach and also had week-old cuts and bruises on her arms and small bruises on her chest that she told police were from an earlier incident when Wermager hit her and poked her forcefully in the chest on March 26. She also had other injuries from a previously reported incident, including two black eyes.

Wermager was sentenced in January to 360 days in jail, all suspended, and 360 days of unsupervised probation for stomping on his girlfriend’s head, beating and strangling her during an earlier domestic violence altercation on Dec. 24, 2019. Judge Gary Lee had also ordered Wermager to complete a class for domestic violence offenders and pay court costs. Wermager received credit for the four days he had already served in jail for that incident. The Class C felony charge would have been reduced to a Class A misdemeanor if he had successfully complied with all court conditions, including not committing another crime. The woman suffered extensive bruising following the December attack, some of which she told police was from earlier altercations with Wermager. Wermager had also been ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Wermager made an initial appearance in district court in Minot on Wednesday. Bond was set at $2,500 or 10 percent of that to the court, jail records show.
