Monique Shavette McLean, 29, is accused of hitting her boyfriend on the left side of his head with a candle in a glass holder and then stabbing him in the right thigh with a pair of kitchen shears at a Minot apartment on Oct. 27, 2019.

McLean is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony aggravated assault – domestic violence committed with a weapon.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the alleged victim sought treatment at the Trinity Hospital emergency room and required five staples for a stab wound approximately 2.5 centimeters long.

McLean was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charge on Tuesday in district court in Minot.
