WATFORD CITY – A fire occurred at a saltwater disposal well, about four miles northwest of Watford City, on Wednesday.

BNN North Dakota, LLC said an estimated 550 barrels of brine were released due to the fire on location at the J.W. Fisketjon 1 saltwater disposal well on Wednesday. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The North Dakota Oil and Gas Divison was notified of the incident the same day.

The product was contained on-site. A state inspector has been to the location and will monitor response and cleanup.
