Construction starts Monday on 31st Avenue SE

The Minot 31st Avenue Project will start construction Monday, according to the City of Minot.

The first phase of construction includes the closure of the intersection of 31st Avenue Southeast and 13th Street Southeast. This intersection is where the first roundabout in Minot will be located. Initial activity will mainly include work on utilities located near the intersection.

Residents in the area are encouraged to utilize 37th Avenue Southeast for access to and from the area off of South Broadway. To maintain local access, 31st Avenue Southeast will remain open through 11th Street. Both 12th and 13th Streets will not have access directly off 31st Avenue.

“We are happy to see construction moving forward on a key project for our community,” said City Engineer Lance Meyer. “In a time where many are not able to work, this project provides jobs and support for our local economy.”

“During this uncertain time, we want to assure residents that we are committed to completing the 31st Avenue project,” Josh Olson, Apex Engineering Group, added. “As the construction for this project begins Monday, we will be following the recommendations from the North Dakota Department of Health, North Dakota Department of Transportation, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other state and federal agencies to ensure the safety of all those working on this project and the community.”

The North Dakota Department of Transportation has issued COVID-19 Spring Construction Project Guidance that will be followed. At this time, no restrictions have been put in place for the construction industry.

The driving public should use caution and pay attention as this work begins. Throughout the project, access to residences, the school, Minot Country Club and Elevation will be maintained.
