SBPC appoints new Bottineau County board member

Charlie Adams is the new Bottineau County representative on the Souris Basin Planning Council Executive Board of Directors. SBPC announced his appointment Monday.

Adams is general manager of Hefty Seed Company in Mohall, a Bottineau County commissioner since 2015, a board member of the North Dakota County Commissioners Association, a board member of the Mohall Lansford Sherwood Dollars For Scholars organization and a township supervisor.

He also invests his time with veterans’ organizations and community groups. He and his wife and two sons reside in Lansford.

“I’m looking forward to serving on the Souris Basin Executive Board and bringing new opportunities and partnerships to Bottineau County,” Adams said. “I appreciate the energy that staff and leadership bring to our region and the SBPC mission is aligned with what I believe in. Souris Basin is leading solutions for rural communities and I’m eager to be among these change leaders.”

Souris Basin Planning Council is a combination of local governments and interested parties from the counties of Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville and Ward and MHA Nation.

SBPC focuses on developing solutions, supporting communities and allocating resources within the seven-county area. SBPC has been working throughout the region for more than 47 years to be responsive to the needs of local communities and finding opportunities to further progress of the region.

SBPC currently is providing opportunities for community growth through the Souris Basin Community Builder Program, which builds partnerships and collaborations with area nonprofits and communities to develop strategies to better serve the residents of North Dakota. As an intermediary sponsor to AmeriCorps VISTA and AmeriCorps North Dakota, SBPC pairs service members with local nonprofits to provide economic opportunity, healthy futures, and education to non-profit partners.

The SBPC is also seeking applicants for North Dakota Community Development Block Grants. This grant program provides financial assistance to local units of government for community development activities. These financial incentives are designated to be utilized in the development and implementation of projects that improve public infrastructure, housing quality, and promotion of accessibility to local and healthy food options.
