Latia Lanika Lanae Ondieki, 34, is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Ondieki took advantage of a man with a mental disability and persuaded him to apply for credit and charge items she and other people wanted, such as expensive jewelry, televisions, and cell phones. Ondieki also persuaded him to go with her and another woman to a local auto dealer and tried to have him apply for credit through the dealership so the other woman could buy a Jeep Cherokee. In that case, his application for credit was denied. The offenses allegedly took place in the fall of 2018.

Ondieki made an initial appearance on the charge on Monday in district court before Judge Richard Hagar.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for April 16.
